History and Time

I'd like to share some interesting concepts were covered in a Church history class, to which I've been listening.

1. Our concept of history is that history has a beginning and an end, with purpose in-between. There are good reasons we take history in school; not the least of which is that we might learn from both the mistakes and the successes of our predecessors. Not only is the study of history important, but the understanding that history itself proceeds forward and is under God's control. Sometimes life can seem out of control, but we serve the God who reigns in the affairs of men.

2. We conceptualize time as past, present and future. That comes from a Biblical worldview. The pagan concept of time in ancient mythology was that time was cyclical. Similar to the Hindu concept of reincarnation, time itself was thought to be cyclic, in other words, time started and then looped back and started over. Remember 8-track tapes (if you're old enough)

Crouching Gospel to Austin

This evening, I took the dog for a walk.   As we were walking back home, off of the greenbelt trail, I noticed a jeep Comanche parked near the trail head.   I wished I had brought some Gospel tracts with me, so I decided to walk up to my car, and grab some tracts.   I did so, and as I walked back down to the trail head, tracts-in-hand, the driver of the car saw me coming toward them, and he started the car and left.   Boy did they leave a heavy odor of marijuana behind them.

So we just continued onto the trail, intending to just walk around the block.   We came out the other end of the trail head, and continued around the block, toward the house, and I noticed another car parked facing wrong-way on the small residential street, so I decided to try to approach them, and give them Gospel tracts.   As I walked up, they rolled up their windows, but I walked up to the driver's side door and offered a Million dollar bill Gospel tract to the young man, and he opened his door and took one, and said, "Can I have two?"   The guy in the back seat said, "hey, I want one too", so I gave him one.  I crouched down and began to share with them.

I asked them if they new what the Gospel was and the driver said, "well, are you familiar with Gold Creek Church?", I said, yes.   He responded, I go to church there.  I said, "What does that do for you?"  We had a nice discussion and I was able to share the Gospel with the young men.   I explained how to receive eternal life (how to go to heaven when you die).   The driver's name was Austin, and I urged him to read his Bible and obey it.

Stomp The Patriarchy Ball

I had several great conversations with people headed into the "All Access" concert at Washington Hall in Seattle.   The concert was part of a nation-wide pro-abortion series of events held yesterday evening.

The people of Seattle are such a colorful bunch of folks.   I did have the privilege of speaking to several dozen of them as they lined up outside the building before the doors opened.   I was glad to learn that this venue would only accommodate up to about 300 attendees.

I handed out three dozen Gospels of John from the Pocket Testament League.   It was interesting to see people recoil when I went to hand them one of these...

One gal told me proudly, "I've had 3 abortions".   I was so sad, but I told her she could be forgiven and see her children in heaven if she would repent and trust Jesus Christ as her Savior.

I had a long conversation with Greg the bouncer.

I only got flipped off twice, Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

I also was strongly scorned by a guy who told me he was going to slap me, and I was in the same camp as abortion clinic bombers.

I also handed out these...

The Glorious Gospel To Bellevue

Pray for Theo, the GOCC Black Hebrew Israelite who we got to witness to last night.
Pray for Mr. Bus Driver who made up his own Sci Fi religion.
Pray for all the people who received Gospel tracts.
Pray for Matthew who told me, from out of his car window, to leave because no one was listening to me.
